This Refund Policy outlines the terms and conditions for cancellations and refunds for courses offered by MarineMecTech. We are committed to providing fair and transparent refund procedures while maintaining the viability of our training programmes.
MarineMecTech is a professional maritime engineering training centre located at Studio 53 Christopher Plaza West Alex, PO11 0JY, United Kingdom. Registration Number: 05117977.
By enrolling in our courses, you agree to the terms of this Refund Policy. Please read this policy carefully before making payment.
2. Cancellation by Participant
2.1 Cancellation Timeline and Refunds
If you need to cancel your enrollment, the refund amount depends on when we receive your written cancellation notice:

2.2 How to Cancel
To cancel your enrollment, you must provide written notice via:

- Postal mail to our registered address
Your cancellation notice must include:
- Your full name as registered
- Course name and scheduled date
- Enrollment or confirmation number
- Reason for cancellation (optional but appreciated)
- Bank account details for refund processing
The cancellation date is determined by when we receive your written notice, not when you send it.
3. Transfer to Alternative Date
3.1 Transfer Policy
As an alternative to cancellation, you may transfer your enrollment to a different course date subject to the following conditions:
- More than 15 days before course start: One free transfer to any available date within 12 months
- 8-14 days before course start: Transfer permitted with £100 administrative fee
- Less than 8 days before course start: Transfers not permitted
Subsequent transfers beyond the first free transfer will incur a £100 administrative fee per transfer.
3.2 Transfer Limitations
Transfers are subject to:
- Availability of spaces on the requested alternative date
- The alternative course being of equal or lesser value (price differences are non-refundable)
- Transfers to higher-priced courses requiring payment of the difference
- Transfers being completed within 12 months of original enrollment date
4. Cancellation by MarineMecTech
4.1 Course Cancellation
We reserve the right to cancel courses due to:
- Insufficient enrollment numbers
- Instructor unavailability due to illness or emergency
- Facility unavailability or safety concerns
- Force majeure events (see section 7)
- Other circumstances beyond our reasonable control
4.2 Participant Options
If we cancel your course, you will be offered the following options:
- Full refund: 100% refund of all fees paid with no deductions
- Transfer: Transfer to an alternative course date at no additional charge
- Course credit: Credit toward any future MarineMecTech course valid for 24 months
4.3 Limitation of Liability
If we cancel a course, our liability is limited to refunding fees paid. We are not responsible for:
- Travel expenses (flights, train tickets, fuel costs)
- Accommodation costs
- Lost wages or business opportunities
- Consequential or indirect losses
We strongly recommend participants obtain travel insurance covering course cancellation.
5. No-Show and Late Arrival
5.1 No-Show Policy
If you fail to attend a course without prior cancellation notice, no refund will be provided. This is considered a "no-show" and is treated the same as cancellation after course commencement.
5.2 Late Arrival
Participants arriving late may be denied entry if they have missed critical safety briefings or foundational content. In such cases:
- No refund will be provided
- Transfer to a future date may be permitted at our discretion, subject to standard transfer fees
6. Dismissal from Course
If a participant is dismissed from a course due to:
- Violation of safety rules or procedures
- Disruptive or inappropriate behavior
- Failure to follow instructor directions
- Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Any violation of our Terms and Conditions
No refund will be provided, and the participant will be responsible for all associated costs.
7. Force Majeure
7.1 Definition
Force majeure events are extraordinary circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:
- Natural disasters (floods, earthquakes, severe weather)
- Pandemics or public health emergencies
- War, terrorism, or civil unrest
- Government orders or restrictions
- Utility failures or infrastructure collapse
- Labor disputes affecting our operations
7.2 Force Majeure Refund Policy
If a course is cancelled due to force majeure:
- Participants will be offered transfer to a rescheduled date
- If rescheduling is not possible or acceptable, a course credit valid for 24 months will be issued
- Cash refunds may be provided at our discretion, potentially minus reasonable administrative costs
We are not liable for any consequential losses resulting from force majeure cancellations.
8. Medical Circumstances
8.1 Medical Emergency
If you cannot attend due to serious illness or medical emergency, we may consider special arrangements. You must provide:
- Written medical documentation from a qualified healthcare professional
- Notification as soon as reasonably possible
- Medical certificate confirming inability to attend
We may offer:
- Transfer to a future date without fee (subject to medical clearance)
- Partial refund at our discretion based on circumstances
8.2 Pre-Existing Conditions
Cancellations due to pre-existing medical conditions known at time of enrollment are subject to standard cancellation terms unless travel insurance covering such conditions was obtained.
9. Course Materials and Non-Refundable Items
The following items are non-refundable once provided:
- Physical course materials and manuals that have been shipped or collected
- Digital access credentials that have been issued and accessed
- Personal protective equipment provided for the course
- Certification examination fees paid to third-party certification bodies
10. Refund Processing
10.1 Processing Time
Approved refunds will be processed within:
- 14 business days of receiving cancellation notice and all required information
- 30 business days maximum in complex cases
10.2 Refund Method
Refunds will be issued via:
- The original payment method where possible
- Bank transfer if the original method is unavailable
- Check payment as a last resort
You are responsible for providing accurate bank account information for refund processing.
10.3 Currency and Exchange Rates
Refunds are processed in British Pounds Sterling (GBP). If you paid in a different currency, the refund will be converted at the current exchange rate, which may differ from the rate at time of payment. We are not responsible for exchange rate fluctuations.
11. Group Bookings
11.1 Group Enrollment
Group bookings (3 or more participants from the same organization) may have different cancellation terms:
- Group discounts are forfeited if group size falls below the minimum threshold
- Individual cancellations within a group are subject to standard cancellation fees
- Substitute participants may be nominated without penalty up to 5 days before course start
11.2 Custom or Private Courses
Custom courses designed for specific organizations have separate cancellation terms outlined in the specific course agreement.
12. Disputes and Complaints
12.1 Refund Disputes
If you disagree with a refund decision:
- Contact us in writing explaining your concern
- We will review the matter and respond within 10 business days
- If unresolved, you may escalate to formal dispute resolution
12.2 Quality Complaints
If you are dissatisfied with course quality:
- Raise concerns immediately with the instructor or course administrator
- We will investigate and attempt to resolve issues promptly
- Submit a formal written complaint within 7 days of course completion
We take quality concerns seriously and will provide appropriate remedies for legitimate grievances, which may include partial refunds, course credits, or complimentary repeat attendance.
13. Consumer Rights
13.1 UK Consumer Protection
This Refund Policy does not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer protection law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
13.2 Distance Selling Regulations
For courses booked online or by distance communication, you may have a statutory cooling-off period. However, this right may not apply to scheduled training courses where dates are specifically agreed. Please contact us if you have questions about your statutory rights.
14. Special Circumstances
We understand that exceptional circumstances may arise. While we are not obligated to deviate from this policy, we will consider requests for exceptions on a case-by-case basis. Factors we may consider include:
- Nature and severity of circumstances
- Timing of notification
- Documentation provided
- Previous enrollment history
- Ability to fill the course space with another participant
Requests for special consideration must be submitted in writing with supporting documentation.

We reserve the right to modify this Refund Policy at any time. Changes will be posted on our website with an updated "Last Updated" date. The policy in effect at the time of your enrollment will govern your enrollment, unless you agree to updated terms.
